I’ll never forget ordering this record after seeing it advertised in a comic book back when I was a kid. It was being sold by a company called “Gayle House” in Flushing, NY. Sent shivers down my spine. My original copy was lost after I loaned it to some folks running a haunted house at our grade school’s spring carnival. The Ad says it all.

Invite your friends over for a …
Haunting
with this haunted house sound effects record.
Just imagine how scared your friends will be when you flip out the light and they start hearing creepy sounds like the howl of a wolf, a creaking door, chains rattling, then a man’s voice telling them that the house is haunted and they are to die-one by one. They’ll be scared stiff when they hear footsteps coming across the floor, the sound of people fighting, glass breaking, hideous laughter, terrible shrieks and screams, eerie moaning and then more footsteps, more screams…. Each person in the room will think that he is going to be the next victim.
This 7 inch long playing 33 1/2 RPM special haunted house sound effects record can be yours for:
Only $1.00 + 25 cents for postage and handling.
This record creates a real atmosphere of terror with sounds that can almost be seen!

FLJerry.com has now retrieved a copy of this rare recording and will make it available to our customers soon.

Secret Fun Spot - One of our most favorite websites! Kirk Demarais’ website is the best Retro Culture site you’ll find on the World Wide Web. When I first came across this website, a tingle went down my leg. Ha-ha!! Actually, all my boyhood fantasies I had dreamed of for years were finally fulfilled. Although I couldn’t own many of the items I longed for as a kid, at least now I was able to see them as they really were and read more about them as well. And it didn’t end there. Secret Fun Spot even has galleries of photos and clips of those retro carnival horror rides, dime store novelties, vintage Halloween memories, Johnson Smith Catalogs, and much much more. Our favorite is the short film “Flip” about a young boy’s adventures in the Mail Order Comic Book world. Besides designing the new packaging for the S.S. Adams line of products, Kirk’s work has been featured in the hit movie, HairSpray! He also has written and compiled an amazing pictorial history book on S.S. Adams novelty items called “Life of the Party”. If you love those mail order novelties as much as I did, you don’t want to miss getting yourself a copy of this book and frequenting this website often!
